New Microsoft systems could land on our best laptop list. But let’s take a closer look at the specifications.

Following the leak, the 13.5-inch and 15-inch Surface Laptop 5 and Surface Pro 9 will use identical processors – the Core i5-1235U and Core i7-1255U that are part of the Intel Alder Lake-U series. The rumored specs list also mentions 8 GB or 16 GB of RAM for consumer models of Surface laptops.
The stated display resolution for laptops is the same as its predecessors. It is said that the Surface Laptop 5, like the Surface 4, could have a resolution of 2496 x 1664, while the Surface Pro 9, like the Surface Pro 8, could get a screen of 2880 x 1920. There is no clarity on whether the Surface Laptop 5 will be Upgraded to a 120 Hz panel.
We now also have a leaked image of the Surface Laptop 5. It’s a bit blurry and not a complete picture, but it looks very similar in design to the Laptop 4 and Microsoft doesn’t seem to cut the size of the bezels either.
The blogger also mentions that the Surface Pro 9 series will come in black, woodland, graphite, platinum, and sapphire colors, while the Surface Pro 5 will come in platinum and black colors.
Initial rumors pointed to a possible Surface Pro 9 5G variant that could be powered by a Qualcomm SoC (likely Microsoft SQ3). If true, it could mean that Microsoft is moving away from AMD Ryzen processors for its Surface lineup.
